Planning a cosmic, eternal, everlasting event

There will be a planning meeting after church today.  We will be planning the Advent events leading up to Christmas.  And by 'we' I mean pastors, musicians, decorators, care staff and children's ministries.

Contemplating the direction we are taking got me thinking about the planning of that first Christmas.  The Godhead in eternity past set a plan into motion that would revolutionize the world.  That would show the world the heighth, breadth and length of GOD's love for each one of us.

There would be a Savior.

No plans that we can make can rival with that.  We cannot match the tumultuous joy of the heavenly host praising GOD and saying, Peace on earth, good will to men.

We cannot duplicate a star shining brightly over the place where a young Jewish woman gave birth to GOD in the flesh.

We can only imagine the joy that Simeon or Anna felt in the temple as they beheld their Savior.

And even though our plans pale in comparison, by a long shot, we can not NOT celebrate.

After all, there IS a SAVIOR.
